What games can I play with a 9800pro ?

Yeh you heard right I thought I'd put my 9800pro through its paces (well need to get value out of the 150quid I paid for it

since it was bought like 3 years ago and hasn't seen much action.

I've been playing bf2 for the last couple of nights and have been enjoying it also am suprised that it plays good paired with a c2d.

So what else should I check out ?

The only games that I have liked are quake 3 / UT (but playing that online with the kids is asking for a whipping big time

)

If you liked BF2 then I recommend grabbing a copy of the BF1942 WW II Anthology

Operation Flashpoint GOTY (old but still great)

cool was just surprised to see how well the 9800pro handled bf2 !

Cant wait to see some real action when incrysis comes out albeit it would have to be be on my 8800gts machine.

I ran HL2 (and CS:S), FarCry & Armed Assault with no problems on my 9800Pro. For the most part they were running at 1024 x 768, although some run OK at 1280.

Tis approaching 4pm on a Friday evening.

Thanks for the links Uncle Peter... I'm downloading fearcombat at the moment.... pah forgot I'm only on 2 meg so should be just a 2 hour wait LOL

I've got UT2004 and will schedule downloading the others 2nite.

Call of Duty 2 can be good. There should be a demo game out there. Depends on the card. Some will run in in the Directx9 setting, others you have to tell the game options to emulate it to Directx7.

Forgot about CoD2. Most of the time that ran fine, but on some of the big SP fights (eg the Russian levels) the frame rate would slow down on my 9800Pro.

CrC, there is a endless list of current games that you can still play on a 9800Pro. its just the question of what kinda games you like and also if you can suffer a sudden little lag sometimes. but with the rig you got the weakness is the g-card.

1 game is out of the question tho and thats Rainbox 6 Las Vegas, tried that on my X800XT and it just didnt wanna play (thankfully that was a dodgy edition game)

BF1942 co-op is a blast even though the bots are completely daft

We often set up a bit of a mini lan party with the 3 machines in the house and a couple from next door joining in over the wireless - I got the dedicated wintel server running on my laptop but I've just built a fairly hefty fedora core 6 box so may give the linux one a go over the weekend.

As I am finding out !

Just played f.e.a.r. combat and again was impressed even though the graphics like bf2 on medium settings look a little bit dated (in comparison to upcoming games) but hell a million years better than quake3.

Thanks all for the recommendations and links which I'm going to try out.

It's funny how the 9800pro and games work well today the way it was supposed to when I first bought it(years back !) I guess it has something to do with it being paired with a c2d.
