My spec for call of duty
Hi All,
This is the laptop I have recently purchased. http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/320_220990.html Is this spec ok for running call of duty?. I will be getting the game in a couple of days.
Also any PS2 gamers play call of duty online in the PS2 rooms?. Does the version I will be getting for the PC have the latest patch or do I still have to go and download it. Sorry, but I know nothing about PC games. Cheers, Chris.

Re: My spec for call of duty
I think it should run it, however I would be tempted to up the ram to 1gb which is possible as upgrade from the store likely.
Secondly I would update the drivers from nvidia's website and make sure windows is patched up also. Then check out the game and make sure thats all updated, and again likely that will have to be done once installed.
The go5700 GPU, aint bad I know Alienware have used it in there notebooks for a while and they seem to hold well. the 3.2ghz Pentium 4 doesnt state if its HT or not ( HyperTransport more information through the processor makes for higher efficiency and speed) but I doubt that at 3.2ghz that will be a issue.
Main thing do your updates and up it to a 1gb of ram, it sounds nicer, runs nicer and is a nice round figure to have.

I cant see there being a problem.
you may have to download the latest DirectX drivers, or update your graphics card drivers but it should run well.

Re: My spec for call of duty
Chris,
I used to CoD with no problems on a Athlon 1600+/512Mb/GeForce 2 MX440 (64mb) - ie two year old system.
Not going to have any problems with that beast.

Re: My spec for call of duty
Yep, I can play CoD at work on my Toshiba lappy, which is a lowly P4 1.6GHz iirc. In fact, atm I'm only running on 512MB of RAM as one of hte modules is sitting on my desk, but it's still playable. I only play at 1024 x 768, but it's certainly playable.

Re: My spec for call of duty
Many thanks for the input chaps. Funnily enough call of duty turned up today, a nice surprise to come home to and I installed it. It runs fine, I havent installed any patches or anything as I dont know what I am doing yet to be honest. This is my first PC game. I am on the level after the manor house where you have the springfield rifle and are ordered to take out the mg42 nests etc.
It does stick for a fraction of a second sometimes when it saves the game position and thats all, also it made me feel like puking for a bit too as I have a touch of vertigo and sometimes fps affect it!!. Very impressed with it overall, graphically, sound in fact most things are superior to the ps2 & xbox, never thought I'd hear myself say that. I will upgrade the memory eventually but I am not sure how upgrading it affects my 2 year warranty, another thing to look into!!. Bye for now. Chris.
P.S. Wish I had got into PC gaming sooner!

Upgrading the memory should be fairly straightforward, so long as the manufacturer didn't put a warranty sticker over the ram slot.
