Re: Need for Speed Underground 2 Demo out
And lo and behold, it's Need for Speed 1 all over again, outdated graphics (ported PS2 title probably), too many garish lighting effects, no damage model (in the demo) and arcadey handling. I was really looking forward to this too, the only positive additions I can see are a couple of different race mode's, e.g "outrun" which is pointless and the ability to roam around the whole city. It's like they took the first one and tacked on a bit from Midnight Club.
My advice is to wait for Midnight Club 3.

It's the textures and permenant darkness that irritate me, look at (for example) the barrels on the freeway, looks like graphics circa 1990. It's more like an expansion pack than a new game. I wish they'd stop making multirelease titles, the only decent driving game I've seen since Colin McRae 2 has been Live for Speed, it costs £12, is on PC only and looks and handles like sex.

No, it IS NFSU, with only a couple of bits added.

Re: Need for Speed Underground 2 Demo out
But the game is not meant to be a simulation it is a game of speed and modded cars. I think the game looks lush on my PC at high detail. have the first one on xbox and love it still. The graphics look good but they are not meant to be super detailed as you are zooming along at 150mph+ you rarely get to see stuff.

I loved that game when I first tried it, the dump valve sounds annoyed me though (no satisfying whoosh, just a little sqeak).
BTW Bifta, have you tried Colin McCrae 04 yet?
It sounds amazing when using the in-car view with a surround speaker setup.
CM 05 is crap though.
