Rome : Total War
Have any of you guys played this yet - its freekin awesome.
There is a hell of a lot to learn though, but the inbuilt tutor is damn good.
Its kind of like Civilisation, but with a full on battle engine which - really has to be seen to be believed.
If you watched Time Commanders on telly, with that Eddie Mair bloke who had contestants on as generals leading various famous historic battles, that is effectively the same thing, with that engine being used for the battles and a civ like front end. Im drooling at the thought of what they could do with this engine.

Re: Rome : Total War
I've played the demo, along with some tweaks to alter the size of each army, pretty impressive. I'll probably pick up a copy soon.

Im glad games with scale are becoming a bit more common (With the total war series leading the way) it used to annoy me so much in games like C&C where a man was about 70% as big as a vehicle that could supposedly fit 5 men inside.

Re: Rome : Total War
What I love about this and hated about Civ, is that in Civ it REALLY annoyed me when one of my Tanks would have a bad day and get stuffed over by a crappy enemy unit like a Phalanx or something.
But with this - there's none of that - you could drive up to him, and reverse park on his forhead and not even fire a shot. Which seems to satisfy a little bit more than being done over by cheating AI.

Bifta,
Can you post (or PM) me the details of your tweaks, please.
I have put the game on my Xmas list, so I'll wait patiently with the demo!
From what I've seen it will improve on one of my frustrations with Age of Empires titles - you have a nice formation of troops/archers/cavalry and at the first sign of the enemy they charge in utter chaos - at least here they appear to attack in formation, backing each other up!

The mods have since been removed, they were all on http://www.totalwarcenter.com/ which appears to now be defunct
