Train Simulator maps

Anybody prepared to admit they have train sim? If so, do you know whether it is possible to download maps off the internet and play them on the game? First person with a reasonable response gets a green rep

I used to own it, much prefer MS Flight Sim. Try http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/kds/main/new11.htm you need to be a member to download files, but afaik it's still free.

Re: Train Simulator maps

I've got a copy, but its gargantuan demands on disk space and time have meant it hasn't got a run out for a bit - there are commercial products which are apparently far better than what you can download for free (on the basis that they were so good as private developments that they could make money selling them).

I've got Train Sim, and it's alright, I suppose.

I really want Flight Sim, though - I bet that's much more fun!

Re: Train Simulator maps

Much more of a drain, tell me if anyone is in the know, is it true MS are planning Train Simulator 2, the only thing I liked on the Train Simulator was the long freight train routes kind of relaxing after a bad day on the forums moderating.

Although I like doom3, wish i could stick pictuires of those who annoy me on the zombies heads.

Re: Train Simulator maps

Oooh, dear! My computer isn't going to like that (32MB Graphics, 224MB RAM, 2.66GHz Celeron - although I could notch graphics up to 64MB if nessesary). Would that be enough - it will according to this?

Re: Train Simulator maps

A little tip start with the min graphics for ground, I did with my old system setup and only had high detail on the plane, also turn of the clouds and make them simple, 2ndly limit the frame lock to something like 30fps this does help also would lowering the mesh size, and global texture size ( all these options are in the display menu in the options page). I did the above and it made my flying much more enjoyable, the only thing you may have issues with is importing airplanes as some are massivly high graphically details I had a cargo 747-200 and it took some stress onto my little 128mb ati radeon 9200se AGP card.

Re: Train Simulator maps

I found train simulator to be the most boring simulator ever made. As Bifta also said, I'm also more interested in planes.
