Stupid DAB radio question ?

Hi all

Is a DAB radio just like a normal radio in that you just tune it into a frequency and that's it...............ie my local radio station fox is on 102.6 so I can pick it up .................... or does the station have a special DAB siginal that it has to transmit..............does that nake sense !!!!

thanks

Mike

Re: Stupid DAB radio question ?

The frequencies used for DAB are different to FM signals. DAB works similarly to digital cable. Each frequency contains a multiplex, a number of radio stations.
You will need a DAB reciever, a normal radio won't work.

If I buy one is it just a case of tuning to 99.10 for radio 1 and 89.50 for radio 2 and my local station 102.60 is that the way it works

No - you turn it on, press Autotune, and it finds whatever stations are broadcasting in your area.

Re: Stupid DAB radio question ?

As soon as you switch on a DAB it 'autotunes' in all the available stations. There aren't any frequencies such as 96.4 etc.
