Even cheaper texts..

......from a company that want to do for texts what Skype did for phone calls!

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/03/27/hotxt_richard/

http://www.hotxt.co.uk/

£1 a week "all you can eat".

From what I can tell it uses a java applet on your phone that then transmits and receives your texts over the internet!

Interesting, not too sure is it'll be worth me paying for it as I'm on Easy's 5p/1p text tariff.

Actually, if this could be ported to the PC somehow, it would be class.
I'd use it to get round the restrictions put in place with the "free" texting websites.

Re: Even cheaper texts..

Seems that this company has got a rival... who don't charge £1 p/month for using their service.

Here's the link: http://www.tex2me.com/

The site makes interesting reading:

Where's the catch?

What catch? Tex2 is free to join, available to everyone, theres no (con)tract to sign, you don't have to fill in any details, there's no subscription to pay amd Tex2 works on nearly all phones.*
They have an interesting ready-reckoner that tells you your savings but I'm not too sure how good it is after all we all pay different GPRS charges.

http://www.tex2me.com/how_much_did_you_say.html

Will be trying it on my new phone (when the bleeder arrives).

*their spelling mistakes not mine!

Re: Even cheaper texts..

After having a play with the free one it's o.k and does what it says on the tin (i.e. sends texts between phones with the software installed) only problem is that you need to get all your mates to install it too.

Can't see the phone manufacturers installing it as standard like MSN messenger so I doubt it will catch on that quickly.
