Whilst they may be avi it still might require a codec.
divx files show as avi also.

Re: o2 xda mini video files
Open them up in Gspot and tell us what codec it says it needs.

Just had a thought, when you try and play them on your XDA do you get a message saying something along the lines of, no application is associated with this file type, open file within app ????
I've had this on my XDA II.
If so, try opening your media player and locate your file, if other, please tell us how your trying to open the files, also, in file explorer, what icon do you see for your films ??

Also have you found any good utils for it.

Forgot to give a link.
TCPMP - http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
Free. Plays WMV, divx, xvid, etc.
Also useful:
PocketDivXEncoder - http://divx.ppccool.com/
Free app for encoding stuff to xvid/divx. Very good.

Re: o2 xda mini video files
Yup, TCPMP and pocketDivXEncoder (or I use the "paid for" version - Lathe) are top notch.
I have just spent a fairly unpleasant train journey from London to Glasgow with my trusty mini s and 12 hours of TV proggys on my 1gig mini sd.
(Didn't take 12 hours btw - but I've got the return journey too!)

I bought PocketBreeze & iLauncher from www.sbsh.net yesterday - *very* impressed with both of them.
Both easily worth the (very small) price.
PocketBreeze replaces the Calendar & Tasks plugins on the Today screen, plus can do more than that. Much better than the built-in plugins.
iLauncher is a launcher app, so you can put shortcuts to things on the Today screen. Very useful.
I'd also recommend this great piece of freeware:
smartskey - http://forum.xda-developers.com/view...er=asc&start=0
Changes it so you can set the OK/close button to actually *close*, rather than the default WM5 action of it just hiding the app/whatever.
Lets you remap the softkeys, so holding down the left soft-key brings up the start menu, while holding down the right one acts as OK/close. Two things the mini S should have had actual buttons for.
And a few other things.
Very handy!
Oh, also worth installing without the O2 rubbish, & then stripping out what's left of it. The O2 Active thing just slows it down!
Lots & lots of info on the HTC Wizard / XDA Mini S (& other XDAs) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php?
