A case of the Emperor's new clothes?

Oregan states University has built the world's first transparent integrated circuits.

The main advantage appears to be cost. It will be extremely cheap to manufacture these chips, and this will apparently enable a whole range of disposable devices (OK, I have to admit, I am dubious how this is useful, but apparently it is).

No idea whther they would actually be cheaper and/or more disposable, but I can see how it would become possible to build the display circuitry into the display surface itself - for example a pair of glasses with a display built in.

Well I just hope that they don't put them down & forget where they put them.

Never find them again :-)
