I have just had ntl installed & wondered if there is any kind on 'Magic Eye'i can get to run the signal up to the bedroom, the cable is already installed from when i was with SKY !! Can it be done ???? Can anybody help ?? we tried to ask the engineer who installed it but he was as much use a chocolate fireguard (miserable sod)
The answer is yes you can do this, but what you need depends on your Set Top Box. Generally the Pace modesl use a less than common IrDA remote signalling, wheras the Samsungs use a more common, but sometimes still tricky RC5.
thanks for that Rob C, the box is a Samsung smt-2100c.i looked at web sites at the digi sender but on all the sites it stated 'will not work on the new Samsung silver set top box' so still a little confused.
I do use the Digisender with my Samsung. Bit tempermental though. If I point the remote directly at the sender unit, it seems to overpower it. Angle it slightly and most of the time the signal gets through. The remote eye, is placed a couple of centimetres from the front panel of the STB.
