the european firm EADS is looking to buliding a hypersonic jet with twice the speed increase of concorde meaning a flight from paris to japan would take just 2 hours

If you read the bottom it says that Boing have shelved their "Sonic Cruiser" due to cost efficiency...

Whilst EADS (who own Airbus and were Aerospatiale - the French half of Concorde) do have a lot of knowledge, one wonders how long it will be before they say sorry, it costs too much...

I also don't see how they will get past the 'boom' problem...

I hope I'm wrong, and I hope the UK get involved as Rolls Royce have the most experience with supersonic passenger jet engines.

i did read it, this one could be more of a realistic possibility in it taking off(pardon the pun) :p
