The above aerial in a down stairs office on a shelf .

Which do you think will give me a better signal for digital / freeview TV.

Many thanks for your time

The loop aerials are hopeless, no amount of boosting can hide the fact that if it's not being picked up to begin with, you can't add it in - and that's where these loop aerials fail (gain).

For me - it would have to be the high-gain though that really should be outside. If you must have a set-top get a low-noise booster if needed, with a good one like the one I'm using to power my PVR card and freeview box, the Telecam TCE2000.

If it's for digital or freeview, you ideally should go with an outside aerial.
That little diddy aerial will be fine for picking up channels 1-5 but you may have to position it all over the place or use some signal booster to really get a good picture.

Re: Which TV aerial and location

Before you buy an aerial, check the coverage predictor by inserting your postcode here:

Digital channels:
http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?

Analogue channels:
http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tva.exe?

It will tell you what type of aerial you need - look in the 'antenna suggestion' box at the right hand end of the table of results.

My Tx isn't even in the list, unless you change the search types.

This is off said Telecam aerial, in Nottm (about 50 miles from Belmont) with a splitter between this and the PC.

Do you mean change the search from 'local' to 'distant' or 'DX'? I have found that these options are a function of the transmitter's physical distance from you and it's output power. My nearest transmitter is only about 10 miles away but it is a very low-power 'fill in' transmitter intended to provide for one town that sits in a valley, so it shows as DX for me.

Yeah - distant. Only Waltham and Nottingham (both closer, but shielded by hills) appear in the local search.
But in the distant one, as well as Belmont (which is fine) I also get Sutton Coldfield, Emley Moor :o and Sandy Heath (big :o ) neither of which are obtainable.

You could say because of the flatness of the land in between, Belmont is one hell of a freak that it reaches Nottm so easily.
