DVDr chapering help

I haven't had much luck with DVD recorders thus far as the two I have tried have not done their job - the first one had a faulty scart socket and the second one frpm LG wouldn't allow me to add chapters. Therefore, am putting this question to all of you who want to do what I want to do which is covert my VHS to DVD and add chapters to the material like they do on prerecorded DVDs.

With a budget of around £250, can anyone recommend me a DVD recorder with a hard-drive which allows me to add my own chaptering, preferably where I can pause the hard-drive playback during editing to add the chapter in the place it needs to go rather than trying to randomly add the chapter at play speed, which is all LG told me I could do.

Also I am told that I may loose the chaptering I have added when I burn the editied mateiral to disc. Is this true and how do I avoid this happening?

Any help appreciated as I plan to make it third time lucky tomorrow afternoon!
