Mobile phone
Hi,
I have an Alcatel mobile phone that I have had for some years, I have just tried to connect with it and all I get is "service unavailable" the signal strength icon is full strength, I have not used this phone for 18 months so is it to do with the sim card ? I can't remember what service provider I was with and the sim card is blue with no name on it, any ideas, Thanks.

Re: Mobile phone
Sounds to me like you've been disconnected... my old PAYG account used to have a deadline whereby if I didn't make any calls within a set period, the account was discontinued. This was, I presume, to stop me having a number that was always available for people to contact me without me paying anything to the provider in return.

I'm taking a guess here that there's no contract if it is PAYG have you ever been able to connect ( wap ? ) or other ?? Can you make calls on the phone ? i.e. is there a service of any kind ?

It used to be payg so I suppose that the time limit has elapsed so I cannot connect at all, is there a way to re-activate the sim card, I would ring the service provider but I cannot remember which one it was ! Thanks for the replies

I wouldn't have thought you could re-activate it, could be wrong, there are plenty of free payg sim cards available on the net, google for them by your service provider of choice and depending on what services your wanting.

Re: Mobile phone
Erm unless you unlocked the phone while it was still on a network then you may be stuffed. The PAYG phones are often locked to the network that they are supplied on (O2, Virgin, Orange etc) and will not work on any other network until they are "unlocked". So if you have no idea what network it was on you are a little bit buggered.
