DVD-RW Editing

No idea where to post this...Pse move if in wrong place

I am recording from TV to a HD/DVD Recorder, recording onto dvd-rw disk using vr mode..
After editing to remove ads etc I finalise the disk...all as per the manual..
I can play the disk on 3 different dvd players, untill the edit is reached.
All the players stop when they reach the first edit..
The disk will play on the original m/c with no problems....
Any and all advice welcome....

Re: DVD-RW Editing

My dad has a VHS/DVD recorder and he is coping hid videos to DVD and some have ads in them, he has to press pause then wind through the ad the unpause and this causes no probles.

Do you have to do a similar thing?

By playing on the first part suggest some type of multi session issue, and I can't thing of a way around this.

Re: DVD-RW Editing

Personally I have used Nero on the PC to edit out ads. I only have one DVD player (the recorder) and the PC DVD, so I can't guarantee it will work in all! Afaik, DVD+R disks are more portable for the final version.

Re: DVD-RW Editing

VR mode can be picky about which player it will work on. Can you use a different format?

Re: DVD-RW Editing

My understanding, according to the manual, is that VR mode is the only mode that will allow me to edit sections of the dvd...Video mode will only edit title name..
As I said.no probs untill the edit is reached, then players "freeze" then stop,I cannot even "fast forward" past the edit...

Re: DVD-RW Editing

I suppose another thing to try is a different branded disc.

Re: DVD-RW Editing

What the edit mode is doing, is not deleting that bit (as the information is recorded in a continuous spiral), but telling the disk to jump forward to another edit point, if the player is not happy doing this then it might just grind to a halt. It is similar to lifting the needle of a vinyl record and replacing it back 90 seconds further into the track.

Re: DVD-RW Editing

So,in your opinion, does that mean I am unable to succesfully edit on the dvd recorder...???...Is there another option...??..
I have edited a DVD+RW in the comp, however the edit prog finalised the disk,so in effect is no better than a DVD+R.........
