Telephone System - 60 Extensions

Hi,

Well at long last ive been given the go ahead for a new phone system here at work. Looking for suggestions / reviews etc...

Im considering using a voice over IP system, but obviously the cost is a factor in this method.... (replacing switches with layer3 cisco switches etc.)

A few things that i deffinitely require from the system include
  • Dect Handsets (all of them about 60 extensions expansion options would be ideal too) obviously would require multiple bases to cover these too
  • Voicemail
  • Call diversion (internal and external)
  • Hunt groups (allowing other members in the group to answer the call)
Dont want to spend anymore than about £5-7k

Look forward to suggestions

ok, that puts my idea out of scope

In actual fact I'd be suprised if you could get the new switches alone for that budget.

Re: Telephone System - 60 Extensions

What are you currently using, what are the expansion options for that? And you really mean you want 60 DECT phones in the building, not just some? Everybody to be on a DECT extention at all times.

Have you thought about a CENTREX solution? But feature line will set you back 10k a year for line rental

If i could get the all clear on it... then id go with it.... as it would also give me a chance to do CCNA..... but i somehow doubt it very much

Currently using a BT Norstar exchange... we can expand it in terms of extensions, but cant do much else (wont take a voip module, wont allow a monitoring system, wont easily allow Dect system etc....) Yeah we want all users to go dect.... at the moment we have 24 mobile phones, and the users divert their extension to their mobile (more cost on calls etc..) with a dect system, we can take away the mobiles..... Not looked at centrex (yet)

thanks for that so far

BT solutions suggest - Business Communication Manager (BCM)

Developed by Nortel Networks, delivered and supported by BT, Business Communications Manager (BCM) is an advanced but easy-to-use, one box solution for simple telephony right up to a sophisticated mix of voice, data and Voice over IP.

BCM 400

Builds on BCM (200) Mini Office for organisations likely to grow beyond 32 users - expandable to 160 users)
Supports 8 Analogue lines, 8 ISDN2 channels and 30 ISDN30 Channels
Offers the same additional applications as BCM 200 - Professional Call Centre and DECT

BCM Power Office

A special BCM 400 package
Delivers voice and data capability for 50+ users, including unified messaging - expandable to 160+ users
Supports 30 ISDN30 (PRI) channels
64 extensions and the ability to move up to IP telephony without a big up-front investment
64 voice-mail user capability - so you're never likely to miss a call
64 unified messaging user capability, so staff can access and manage voice, fax and e-mail from a single interface even when they are not in the office
System-wide fax mailboxes and fax server and two Personal Call Managers

http://www.downloads.bt.com/b4b/pdf/BCM_brochure2.pdf

Or...

Cisco Call Manager Express (AVVID)
Range of features Internet Protocol (IP) enabled

Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data) is an IP-based communications system. Both data and IP telephony are supported on a common platform. It is ideal if you need IP telephony that provides basic voice requirements in a small site or branch office with up to 100 users. AVVID is modular and scalable from small to very large enterprises.

Re: Telephone System - 60 Extensions

We currently have a BT Norstar with around 20 extensions & lines I think and BT have currently loaded us £30-40k's worth of IP telephony equipment and by the end of the year 8 of our lines with be IP'ed and also able to make and recieve normal calls so hopefully by the end of next year all phones will be running it. It is really clear and the actual phones are not bad although rather than plugging your pc into it, if you can have your PC and phone in different sockets as it interfears.

As soon as I can find some more out on what we have I will let you know.
