I've got the Kiss DP1000, which is the cut down version... it doesn't have the wireless facility, but I didn't want that when I bought it.
The official Kiss firmware is very sucky. However there's a fairly active scene where you can get unofficial firmwares that resolve the problems you encounter.
I'm not 100% happy with it as a normal DVD player (there's a couple of bugs still in it), but it was the best DivX/XviD compatible player on the market when I bought mine. One annoying thing that I haven't seen if it has been resolved yet is that if the player is left unattended for a long period of time, then you can't power it up properly using the remote control as the player juts hangs. You have to physically unplug it... which reminds me that there's no real on/off button on the player itself, which is a bit of a pain.
However, it's worth noting that Kiss was recently bought-out by Cisco, so I should imagine that these sort of small issues will get resolved now they've got the financial backing of a huge multi-national.
Hope that helps
