New hifi choice
Hiya all my gf has given me a choice of two hifi's which have caught my eye, both are £199, both have the power and features I like, both are good makers.
But I can only have one.
And for the life of me I cannot make my mind up, while Sony I know rule, Panasonic also are good, as my family has had a few hifi's from them.
SONY HIFI
PANASONIC HIFI
I would like to choose between those two as any more choice would confuse me more.
Which maker is better?

Re: New hifi choice
Go for the Sony, purely because its Sony!! Specs wise i'd say they're more or less the same!

Re: New hifi choice
I am leaning to the Sony more and more, this will be being plugged into the AUX and being fed sound via my pc.
Imagine Winamp through that Sony
Anyone got either of these setups?

Re: New hifi choice
Go for Panasonic. They make a lot of good stuff generally, but it looks like it has more features.
The Panasonic looks like it has less power, but it doesn't. The figure for the sony, I guarantee is peak, and not RMS. The RMS of the Sony will probably be like the Panasonic. Also, the Panasonic has a 5 disk changer, not 3, and it has ID3 display, which by the looks of it, the Sony doesn't
Check if the Panasonic has Aux in (like the Sony does). They are really useful. If it does, then its the Panasonic for me, hands down.

Re: New hifi choice
Ideally, you'd be better getting some seperates.....a decent Cd player, an amp, and speakers, but if you are looking for an all in one solution, I guess that is OK.
I tend to prefer panasonic to Sony. Everyone says Sony are briliant, but I personally don't rate them as the worlds best.

Re: New hifi choice
I had a Sony Micro a few months back of which I gave to my mother as it served me well.
It did very well and was very very powerful for its little size. Miss the little thing I do.
Punky I would assume the rating is RMS< in the Argos book the Panasonic only hits 10more watt RMS then the Sony does.
Also the AUX port does every hifi not have one :|, I would need this to wire in my pc to the hifi.

I agree with the seperates but it is down to space, and the fact my pc area is a jungle of cables, hit by the demon cable tangling demon, and soon to have a A-Z of how to unplug even the smallest thing.

Well, even more reason to check Some won't, but for 200 quid, you should get an aux port.

Re: New hifi choice
I woud be buying from Argos but I have the 16day thing, and before I leave the store I will be checking the box which labells the contents.
I am more leaning to the Sony, but it is driving me nuts trying to find freaking reviews on those hifi's.

Re: New hifi choice
The Panasonic one seems to have an Aux selector button so I guess that would mean it has an auxilary input.
EDIT: Yes it does. It can be seen in the manual off the Panasonic website.

Re: New hifi choice
Have to admit - I'm a big fan of all that is Sony - but Panasonic do good stuff too.
If you're happy with a 3 cd changer then personally I'd go Sony, otherwise get the Panny if you'll be playing loads of singles and want a 5.
Though I reckon you probably can't go far wrong with either.
