Getting kids videos on a tablet.
Been thinking about getting our youngest one of these small tablets (or something very similar) for his birthday:
http://www.ebuyer.com/386278-sumvisi...let-pc-astro-7
He has special needs and loves watching kids videos at home via a DVD player and online via youtube etc. but when were on holiday we won't have wi-fi so is there any easy way of storing some of these onto the tablet? He'll enjoy playing some of the free game apps we'll download for him but it'd be nice if we could put a few of his favourite videos on the device for those rainy days on holiday.
Cheers as always.

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
The tablet will most likely accept MP4 which will not take up to much space. Just google dvd to mp4 and you will find a free converter
http://download.cnet.com/Leawo-Free-...-10909837.html ive not tried this or support this but its free and at the top of google hits

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
Also the ever popular WinX dvd ripper is freeware atm..
http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper/
For the tablet just install VLC which will play just about anything like it does on the PC.

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
OK guys - just about to take him out for a walk so I'll be brief. Are we saying that I download some software onto our PC then convert/copy some of his favourite videos, store them on our HDD and then simply copy them onto the SD card which is going in the tablet?
Yes I know I'm a bit slow when it comes to such things.... lol

I have something similar, and I plug in my 500gb portable hard drive in the usb port which is full of films or buy some micro sd cards and put your movies on that and a mini hdmi to hdmi cable and plug into the tv to watch on the tv.

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
the reason I pointed to MP4 is the file compression leaves a smaller file which is fine for tablets and mobile phones. You do not need a 700 meg avi rip on a tiny screen

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
Thanks everyone will give it a try and report back. I bought a 16gb micro sd card for my tablet so I'll get one for his if this all works out.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the tablet I linked to for this purpose? Is it missing anything useful for our intended use? BTW Thanks for the heads up to the 10 inch version Kymmy but it'll be too big for him to carry easily so 7 inch will be enough.

The same company does an android 4 tablet 7" at roughly the same price.. In case you're wondering about the company it used to be called Watford Electronics and is based in Luton

just watch when you return from your walk because with all that copyright infringement the copy police may be hiding in your hedge ready to pounce and extradite you to the USA where you will face 30yrs in a ultra max prison chained to Bubba and his man sized bar of soap

Re: Getting kids videos on a tablet.
The only problem I can see is the buttons are on the surface which, as my friend tells me can be operated accidentally when it is in a case whereas the ones with the buttons on the top LINK(this is the one I have) are less prone to switch themselves on? the battery is not bad but not brilliant.
(the one I have linked to is a slightly higher spec screen and price)
