Kindle vs Ipad?
Just wondering if there's anyone here who has both a kindle and an Ipad and can comment on if it's worthwhile getting the kindle.
Trying to get myself reading again since i've not really read a book in ages, can just download the kindle app on the ipad but I've heard that the e-ink displays are much better on the eyes if reading as they're not backlit?

Re: Kindle vs Ipad?
Well a kindle is just a book reader where as the iPad is a full tablet computer.
If its just for reading the I would recommend the kindle.

Re: Kindle vs Ipad?
I prefer the kindle to the iPad for reading. But that's only as the iPad's kindle app doesn't read out the books.
Also the kindle has (obviously) much better battery life.

Yep just for reading, already got an ipad but don't mind shelling out for a kindle as they seem decent, certainly the people I know with one all seem to like theirs. Suppose if I want to see any of the graphics in a book in colour I can just load the app on the ipad anyway
My Friend was saying the other day they've bought a lot more books since they got their kindle.

Re: Kindle vs Ipad?
Kindle is so much easier on your eyes than any backlit display, that does mean though that you need a light source if you want to read in the dark. I believe that you can get a kindle app for the ipad so you can have the same books on both so if you only need something light for the day you take the kindle, if you need something more functional you take the ipad

Another main point is daytime outdoor reading.. Any place where the ipad screen becomes unreadable due to glare you can be assured that the Kindle will still be perfectly readable

Agreed the Kindle is great for reading ,i don't have an ipad but i assume it's the same as reading from a pc or laptop which can be quite stressfull on my tired eyes, and i'm going to treat myself to a kindle reading light in a few weeks

It's pretty much the same as reading on the PC yes, don't use it for books but often read webpages.etc on it.

This one's really good:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0069W2ZII/
Comes with spare batteries & a screwdriver to fit them...

Re: Kindle vs Ipad?
For just reading and all things book related: Go for the Kindle
For plenty more Apps including a version of Kindle software: Go for the iPad

Re: Kindle vs Ipad?
The kindle is much better for reading, so much easier on the eyes especially in the evenings before bed and outside in the sun (when we get some)
