Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
I was wondering if anyone knows of the settings in Sony Vegas to get the optimal setting for HD?
I have loads of old HD Video, and I want to burn them to DVD, so I can watch it back in HD as sharp as possible.
I keep burning video to DVD but when I play it back, its not as crystal clear as the original, and everytime I change the settings in Sony Vegas, I end up with different results.

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
As DVD isn't HD that's not surprising, you'll need Blu-ray to get HD

well I only have one Blu Ray recordable, so this is why I need the best settings, if i render my current compilation under my current settings and then burn it to blu ray, it might not be the best settings for HD, and i will have wasted my only blank Blu Ray.

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
You can't burn HD to DVD for a start. It simply doesn't have the storage space for HD video.

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
HD (1080p) is simply the dimensions of the screen, nothing more and nothing less. If the original video doesn't match then re-encoding it will not make it "perfect"
What's the original video? -use gspot to find the size, encoding, fps figures

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
As long as your Roxio settings are correct then what you see on the TV should be the same as what you see on the computer. Only difference may be a color cast as not all screens have the same color profile.

Im using sony vegas to edit my clips, and join them together, then im rendering the video into a Movie file, and then importing this into roxio before burning.

Straight off the camcorder onto the PC. AVCHD File
I then add all the files to Vegas to clip and edit them, then I want to render them to HD quality before adding them to Roxio for Burning.
Im using Roxio to create some DVD menu's etc
If their is an easier way im happy to give that a go. I have so many movie files, some need snipping, others i want to add text to the clips. And i dont want just 1 massive long movie, I want to have separate choices from the DVD menu.
1 - Allotment Video
2 - Wedding Video
3 - Before & After Decorating
4 - Pets

Settings in Vegas? Ive changed the project settings to HDV 1080-50i 1440x1080

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
50i might be an issue for the TV playback especially as it's not a blu-ray standard.. Try 24p.. G-spot isn't reporting the fps so try VLC on the original file and see what's that reporting..

Re: Sony Vegas - Perfect HD Setting
Whatever sony/roxio says it'll cope with..
....the filename is purely the container, the codecs itself and the settings of the video is the crucial bit.. I stick with AVI myself as I know that just about everything will look for those files..
