Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
I have Philips cordless headphones which worked well with my old AOC tv when the sender was plugged into the audio out socket. That TV`s now upstairs.
The 3.5mm plug on the sender however does not fit audio out socket on new LG 32"(32LD490)so I cannot use them unless I use the headphone socket which cuts off the sound to the speakers so my wife can`t hear it.
Anyone know a workaround please?

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
If the LG headphone socket is 6.35mm, how about one of these adaptors

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
I`m afraid that`s not the issue. The headphone socket on the TV is 3.5.The headphones jack is 3.5 + a 6.5 adaptor.
There is no other 3.5 or 6.5 jack socket on the tv.The audio out socket is different so the jack doesn`t fit.

If it's component in then I doubt this will help.
What actual audio outputs does the TV have?

By the look of the spec on the LG site it only has Digital Audio Out.
If you want to use that, you would need a digital to analog converter.
Your probably looking at something like this in combination with the cheapo cable from my last post. Although it's rather more expensive at £37. Also do more research first to make sure it will indeed do what you want - have a look at the Amazon reviews.

Oh yeah and you would need an Optical Audio Cable to connect the TV to the converter.

Here is another converter - slightly cheaper at £25.99

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
Late logging on today so only just seen your post.
It`s rather annoying to find that something that was simple to set up with my old AOC LCD tv is more complicated. That had(has)an analogue audio out.
I appreciate your Amazon links and now have a clearer idea of what I need.I will have a search on Amazon for further info though.
In addition to that I have a friend in a specialist hi fi shop so I`ll see if he can help me out.
Maybe I`ll have a look on ebuyer too.I`ve always found them much cheaper than elsewhere and very reliable.I just bought a USB extender PCI mounted for £4.60 which works very well.

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
Thanks Kymmy.I`m not totally familiar yet with all the forum boards..
Another idea has occurred to me.I already have an analogue connection that may help:
The scart socket marked "to TV" on the Samsung V+ HD box.If I put a scart to RCA adaptor into that that would give me an analogue output for my cordless headphones via one of these that Acathla linked to yesterday.
Any opinions if that would work satisfactorily? It would be a much cheaper option.

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
Someone pointed out in a very similar thread that if you did that it would have to go through a AV receiver, as I guess you'd have no control over the volume because the signal is essentially designed to be routed through a TV (or AV receiver) first.

My cordless headphones(Philips)have their own power supply and a volume control is incorporated in the headset.
They worked perfectly well connected to the analogue `audio in `on my old LCD TV.I`m hopeful that the method I`ve outlined will work equally well.
A solution costing a couple of £ is more satisfying than the digital to analogue solution costing many times more.
It`ll save me earache from SWMBO for having the TV too loud too.
Cheers

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
I`ve encountered a problem with my headphone setup.
I`ve got a scart to phono adaptor into the TV scart socket on the V+HD box, a phono to 3.5mm jack socket into that and the headphone sender into that.
Although there`s a hum through the headphones when I plug the 3.5 jack in no sound is transmitted to the headphones.
Now I think I either have a faulty scart to phono adaptor or the setup was never going to work.
If I connect another phono to 3.5 socket into the phono sockets of my DVD player it works perfectly.
In other words my headphones work for the DVD player but not the V+HD box.
Anyone got any ideas please?
EDIT.I abandoned the idea of digital to analogue convertor as too expensive for me.I thought this way would work for TV sound.

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
I settled for this convertor + optical cable,under£30.
Reviews pretty good though some mention slight sound delay. Not an issue for me through headphones though.
I`ll post my findings when it arrives.
cheers

Re: Cordless headphones with new LG TV?
Well I`ve set up the adaptor and everything is fine. The headphones work well with no sound lag reported by some reviewers on Amazon.
A result at last.
