Auna AV2-H388 No sound via HDMI only

Hi,
I've just purchased one of these

One of the selling points was 3 HDMI inputs and producing sound through the speakers. wow hardly any cables unlike my previous setup.

However I get NO sound through the speakers when using just HDMI cables
I have to additionally add Red/White audio cables to my HDMI Devices to get sound
I have
SKY + HD – satellite TV box
Sony bdp s185 – bluray player
Tesco DVD player HDMI
Laptop sony vaio
XBOX360 HDMI

Sound will come to the TV but that's not the point of the Auna system.
I know the speaksers work as the radio part of the Auna works well
and that all devices apart from laptop produces sound using extra audio cables

I have spoken to the seller and they say turn your devices to output PCM
i can do this on my bluray and DVD but they don't produce sound with just HDMI

Does anyone have any idea on what I am doing wrong or what settings to change or if indeed this is actually possible using this device which I am assured works.

You may need to choose what audio source outputs sound. For example on my AV unit, for each input you can select either analog, optical, hdmi, etc. Also check that on the devices that they are outputting sound through hdmi in the settings menus, some don't do it automatically.

Ignore the PCM thing, the receiver should work out what signal is being sent and process it accordingly.
