Re: Phone Upgrade next month
Spoke to the carphone warehouse today and they have said that there is no early upgrade fee, so I will be upgrading next month.

Just be sure if these are anything to go by?

If you upgrade before your phone before the end of your current contract, we'll add the days remaining onto the end of your new contract.

Some networks may also let you upgrade earlier if you pay off your remaining months' line rental. If you think you're eligible for an upgrade, give us a call on 0870 087 0870^ and we'll tell you when you can get your hands on a new phone.

Re: Phone Upgrade next month
So basically they will add 3 months onto the new contract. Mine actually ends 16th May

Yes they could do that.
I forgot to ask did you take the contract out with Orange or at a independent shop (carphone warehouse etc)

Re: Phone Upgrade next month
Getting my new phone on Monday . Went through Orange in the end, and got the following:
Blackberry Bold 9790
400 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Data
Blackberry Services
Orange Swappable's (2 per month)
Orange Care Insurance
All for £37.00 Per Month
I have two questions though. Is it easy to transfer my current number to my new Sim Card?
How do I transfer my contacts from my iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.0.1?

Re: Phone Upgrade next month
BlackBerrys are so last year...
Have you not asked to transfer your number? Sounds like you have a new contract with a new number...

We all have our own preferences for phones, not everyones taste is the same.

True - but you are going from a touch to a non-touch device...will be intresting to see how you get on with that.
Isn't that model an older model? I had a 9700 two years ago before the Torch was introduced (touch slider model)...
I've never paid more than £25 and I was on roughy the same plan as what you are going to be on.

The only people doing true unlimited are TMobile with "The Full Monty" plan but there is some dispute over that - it was found out that the speed was capped a 1Mbs

The 9790 is about 2 months old, so generally it is a new ish phone.
I think (but not certain) they class unlimited as either 750mb or 1GB

Cool - what plan is that? I'm in the market for a new phone shortly and I'll be considering my options...

Ahh "The One Plan"
"Some networks have been massively reducing the amount of data their customers are allowed to use on their tariffs recently, to as little as 500MB or even 250MB. Three have taken a step in the opposite direction: All-You-Can-Eat means All-You-Can-Eat. You wont be charged for your data, no matter how much internet you use on your phone. No unexpected charges, no hassle, and No Data Limits! However, you cannot use your phone SIM in another device. If you do, you will be charged for the data used as per out of bundle charges."
"Tethering is only permitted on the One Plan. Tethering is not permitted on Text and Talk All-You-Can-Eat Tariffs. "
That's good as well 'cus sometime I use the phone as a wi-fi hotspot and some may charge you for that....I've never seen how they can do that though? As far as the phones concerned, it's trasnmitting / recieving data...

Yeah I'll retract my statement - TMobile and Three appear to have finally given consumers true "unlimited" data.
Wish they would get rid of that "unlimited data" marketing rubbish - it's not and it's a lie.
---------- Post added at 12:08 ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 ----------
Think I might port my number Thee and get a "SIM 300 All-you-can-eat - 1 Month
30-day contract" for £15pm
MWC starts on the 27th Feb - it'll be intresting to see what's coming...
