Best and Cheap L.E.D TV

My aunts after an LED TV, shes fixated on getting an LED wont take anything other than one. She wanted a 32" but I told her not to bother and get a 42" or near to a 42". I now need some help from you knowledgeable members of where to get a decent cheap one with security of warranty. I've had a look on amazon and although they are relatively cheap, I'm sure I've come across links in the past where they sell sets cheaper.

I don't have a scooby about LEDs any advice would be welcomed to which is the best, cheapest etc.

Hmmm.. IIRC The Gadget Show did a comparison recently and a Hanspree set came out on top.

I've just taken a look at their site but I can't find it.

Richersounds is the place I'd reccomend. They do a 5 year guarentee for something like £30 which is way cheaper than everywhere else.

I picked up an M&S 42 LED for £230 and a 5yr guarantee thrown in 2 weeks ago. Admittedly it was on a one day special offer.

"Best" to me usually means Samsung or LG.

Re: Best and Cheap L.E.D TV

Have a look here as well if you don't see anything you fancy at Richer:

http://www.soundandvision.co.uk/

Although you're probably best off going to look at the tv first to make sure you're 100% happy with it.

Think about getting something like a sound bar though or a budget 2.1 system if she doesn't already have a separate sound system for the existing tv. These LED tv's are very thin and that is exactly how the internal speakers usually sound (well at least if you have fussy ears like me anyway)

Re: Best and Cheap L.E.D TV

That's the same TV I bought.. Excellent TV. Excellent picture and good sound (which is considerably better than most LCD or LED TVs whose sound I would say generally rates between poor and average).

If you do plan on streaming media to it, Samsung do include some PC software that does a good job, but with limited format support.

I have media in all sorts of formats, so had to look for other software. I tried the free edition of TVersity but had trouble getting it to work with the TV, so I ended up buying Mezzmo which runs in the background on the PC, and handles 99% of the available music, video and photo formats. They have a trial version, but the full version is around £20.

You do need a fairly powerful PC to run either TVersity or Mezzmo as they convert media in the background though.

Re: Best and Cheap L.E.D TV

Cheers Stuart. I am looking for a surround system for it.. still researching though have you got it linked to anything?

Did you buy Samsungs dongle or did you manage to get a cheaper or better third party dongle?

I did notice comments on format support.. thanks for that work around

Re: Best and Cheap L.E.D TV

Haven't got a sound system yet. Will look at that in a few months when my coffers have filled up a bit (had a few large bills in the last couple of months, leaving the savings a little drained).

I didn't buy Samsung's dongle. I am fortunate that I have just moved an old Mac Mini out of the room, so the room had a spare Ethernet socket. It's over the other side of the room, but a long Ethernet cable cured that problem.

The streaming works well with Mezzmo.
