DVR system that allows transfer to PC

I'm looking at getting a hard drive PVR but not sure what to buy.

Most PVR's I've seen have no way of getting the recordings off the box unless you buy one that has a DVD Recorder built in.

I'd ideally like a device that can record on to a USB stick or big USB hard drive I can put at the back of the TV and then freely hook it up to my PC when I want to burn anything off or edit footage.

Can you reccomend anything?

Thanks,

halcyon.

Re: DVR system that allows transfer to PC

Are you wanting HD or multiple tuners or anything else?

Re: DVR system that allows transfer to PC

Anything extra is a bonus but just to record in HD or just be able to record at decent quality is fine.
Then I'd want to either play it back at the TV and delete the recording or if I want to archive, transfer the data off.

Thanks.

Re: DVR system that allows transfer to PC

There is this dirt cheap one over at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00473Y8CW

A Freeview HD one for £80 from Tesco:
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-2877.aspx

...though I don't know either brand or the private seller on Amazon.

Grundig SD one that seems to be popular (and sold out most places) on Very:

I'm sure I've seen Samsung and Sony ones but maybe I'm getting confused with the USB record built in smaller TVs. Hope I helped anyway.

Re: DVR system that allows transfer to PC

Try getting a PVR that can record directly via wifi/ethernet to a mounted share (server/desktop/NAS) that way anyone on the network can have access instantly and other devices like networked DLNA players can access the content

Re: DVR system that allows transfer to PC

I've got a Humax HDR-FOX T2 (Freeview HD twin tuners) that can copy recordings onto USB drives and then to a PC over wifi/USB/network for editing.

It's pretty straightforward for SD recordings and there are hacks that work for HD recordings too.
