LG LCD TVs hidden menu hack

Did you know that most of the LG LCDs with USB inputs will play MP3/PICS/FILMS. those that only play the MP3/PICS can be made to play FILMS as well.

I installed ir-remote on my symbian phone. pressed one button on it pointing at the TV and changed DIVX in the hidden service menu from 0 to 1 and now it plays FILMS from USB.

Re: LG LCD TVs hidden menu hack

I wonder if the ability to play films is restricted to more expensive models, or models sold only in certain parts of the world due to rights restrictions?

My son's LCD TV from ALDI does this, in fact I fitted a permanent USB hard drive to the USB port, which now allows him to record and playback like a PVR.

Re: LG LCD TVs hidden menu hack

Probably to do with price.
it's like Vauxhall cars. all the options are there from factory to be activated such as cruise control and auto closure. just need to turn them on through the OBD port in the car either paying Vauxhall, or doing it yourself with Opcom.

Re: LG LCD TVs hidden menu hack

I have an LG 42LE4500 that plays allsorts from the USB as standard but no record option, sadly. A couple of early reports suggested it could, and had a record option in the Freeview EPG, but I presume any subsequent firmware updates have removed that probably due to rights.
