Re: sony 523 hd tv and Samsung bd 8500m Bluyray hdd Recorder

Don't bother with the Blu-ray/HDD recorder, you'd be better off with Sky+ if you don't already have it. You can get a Sony, Samsung or LG Blu-ray player for about £100 now, you'd be better off with that.

For the TV, I'd go with a Samsung personally but again, Samsung, Sony or LG all have great quality panels so you'd have to strive to get a bad one. I can't say anything exactly for the one you've picked because you haven't quoted the full model number.

Later on this (or next) year when I gather my savings together I am thinking of getting a Sony 523 32" HD TV and the Samsung BD 8500M Blu-ray/HDD recorder.

What do people think of these?

Sky+HD is in my plans and I am very tempted by the 1TB Sky+HD box but the reason for the Blu-ray/HDD recorder is that I have loads of home movies I have made and I like to record some stuff from the TV to keep. I was going for a DVD/HDD recorder and a Blu-ray player separately, but both Panasonic and Samsung have brought down the price of Blu-ray/HDD recorders. Plus, next year after the digital switch over we get Freeview HD down here in Hampshire. Hope that helps.
