Ideas for a dilema
Hi All
Got a problem, need some ideas.
I have a BT line in one building, on its own electrical wiring. All fine.
I have another building about 50 metres away, with perfect LOS that also has its own internal electrical wiring, but no BT line.
My grandmother will be moving into this house in the next fews weeks and needs to have a dial tone off the line in house 1. BT want about £10,000 to put a fresh line in there as the land is at the end of a looong road with no spare pairs.
My grandmother is obviously old, as many are.. She uses a "Tunsall Lifeline 400" which is basically a wireless alarm that she can pull for emergencys. This triggers a call via the Tunsall basestation through an analog line which raises an alarm for an ambulance.
Now I COULD risk connecting the basestation at house 1 using the range of apparently 50m. I feel this will not be reliable and I cannot risk it. In addition to this, the unit needs charging and it would mean for my grandmother to keep charging at house 1, this is a pain in the ar*e and cannot happen.
Obviously the electrical wiring extensions will be no good on this occasion as the houses are on separate ring mains.
My idea was to find a 200m ranged DECT with an analog extension which would be used for a modem, or a fax or something but I cannot find one on the market?
Ideas?
Thanks
