How to get a free HDMI cable

If you've recently bought a TV from a major retailer (such as John Lewis, or Currys), you may be able to get a free HDMI cable.

A new online retailer, Kogan has criticised both those stores for selling overpriced HDMI cables, and is currently offering free HDMI cables to anyone who has purchased (or will purchase) a set from one of those retailers between 1st July 2011 and 31st December 2011.

Re: How to get a free HDMI cable

Good, last time I tried to buy a HDMI cable in high street stores was when I was in bath and couldn't find one under £20.

When I first skim-read this the lower case b made a very odd image of the transaction pop into my mind

its one of the only things they make profit on, hence the high prices.

I'm sure hi-fi choice have already prodded it with a sillyscope and made up some fancy scientific guff about it vastly improving your system.

Like placing copper rings around the legs of your furniture and painting around the edge of your CDs with a green felt tip (which cost about 50 quid).

anyway ASDA do a decent, sturdy hdmi lead for about a tenner as do Game and Gamestation.

It's always worthwhile reading the customer reviews for products like this. I've seen much more humorous ones but these did raise a smile or two.

Re: How to get a free HDMI cable

This is the Kogan cable in the offer:

HDMI® Cable - High Speed with Ethernet - 3 Metres, Gold Plated - £4

Bargain, and meets the top spec.: High Speed (Category 2) with Ethernet. £4 for a cable that can easily handle 1080p & 3D... Why people continue to fall for the cable con is a mystery to me...
