I know this sort of thread pops up now and again, but new models come out all the time, and for me it's hard to know whether it's better to get a reduced older camera, or new one.
I've had a Nikon for about 8 years (2mp) but now when zoom is all the way out, it doesn't work properly so have to be zoomed in ax to 1/2 way, so time for a new compact.
As my grandfather would have said, I take snaps, not photos, so something cheap and cheerful to keep in my pocket when on holiday to take photos of random stuff would fit the bill.
I'm thinking of spending £100-£150
Panasonic Lumix FS16 £111.79 at Amazon seems to fit the bill.

would spend a bit more if there's something loads better for a bit more money, or happy to spend less if there's something better/similar costing less.
I know very little about cameras, my Nikon has served me well for 8 years, so I'm guessing anything by a good make like Canon, Panasonic, Sony, Nikon as suggested in other threads would be fine ?
I see some of the sub £100 look pretty good as well
Panasonic DMC S3

£95 at Amazon

On my current camera I never play with any of the settings, so it doesn't seem worth paying extra for extra functionality. Also I never print out pictures, or do any manipulation of them on PC, just rotate them, upload them to facebook etc for friends and family to see.
Thanks
