53 UK hospitals are participating in a trial of a new vaccine that could, if successful, help the immune system fight off pancreatic cancer.
The trial will require that some patients are given regular doses of the vaccine as well as Chemotherapy, and that some are just given Chemotherapy..
The vaccine apparently contains a part of a protein that cancerous cells overproduce, so the immune system is programmed to recognise that protein.
IF this works, it could be a great help to thousands of pancreatic cancer sufferers..
