Tecnika(tescos) tv/dvd repair

The dvd has stopped working on one of the tv's. So at some time this week I will get the screwdiver out and have look
If I can I will replace the dvd for something similair, googling it hinted at a problem with a cap in the psu?

any advice? things that will trip me up like captured nuts etc

probably not worth trying to fix or replace a faulty part for a cheap supermarket player since you can get DVD players so cheap, even by good makes.

I think its an inbuilt one on the television so probably unlikely to get one to fit.

Surely he can just buy a cheap external player, connect it to the TV and forget the built in unit.

That is the easy and more sensible option rather than dismantling a television and trying to retrofit a non standard unit.

Thanks for all your input chaps. The tv has only one scart so at the moment she(daughter) has to unplug dvd and plug in hard drive recorder depending on what she is wanting to watch.
So as mick says I'll have a butchers hook the morra what could possibibly go rong

What about one cable to go from the rear of the dvd to the telly, NOT using the scart on the telly?
which ones would I need?

Just use the component cables (Y/Pb/Pr)
