Screen Burn?

Not sure if this is the right place so Mods feel free to move. Got dark shadow patch on top right hand of LCD screen it's not superficial. Don't really notice it up close but is noticeable when at watching distance. Looks like a dirty mark but isn't on surface of screen. Anyone know a way to sort it? Bar buying new TV? Any help appreciated, keeps drawing my eyes to it. Suspect Mrs Ghost won't go for the new TV option

Re: Screen Burn?

Thread moved as not really a VM issue

I suspect your LCD would have to be replaced

Re: Screen Burn?

LCD's do not suffer from screen burn, instead it's more than likley to be a shadow of a non-even/failing backlight

Re: Screen Burn?

LCD screens can suffer from 'Screen Persistence', which does look a lot like screen burn but is caused in a different way.

See here for a description.

had one of the first lcd getting old now where the air vent was in the right hand corner there also a small fan that dragged in dust it left a dark streak in the corner of the screen as the fan blows the small particles of dust across the inside of the lcd over time some of it stays there.

most electrical good should last longer than 3 years and IIRC watchdog said something about "sale of goods act" they have to honour around 6 years, and warranties are worthless.
