HTC Desire HD
Hi,
Anybody here with a HTC Desire HD?
Just got mine this week - great phone but poor battery life.
What's your battery life like??

Re: HTC Desire HD
I've had a standard Desire since April, class bit of kit
Give it a couple of weeks of charging and the battery will improve

Re: HTC Desire HD
I'm looking at the HDs little brother the Desire Z (I want a qwerty keyboard) and I'm impressed with the Specs. The battery will run down much quicker with wifi/bluetooth/3G switched on so get the appropriate Android Market app and switch them off if you don't use them much.
The HD has a 1Ghz processor which will suck a fair bit of juice, as will the large screen

Re: HTC Desire HD
I have a standard Desire and the battery is Ok. I usually get a good working day's use out of it. If I game a lot or use Google Navigate it needs a charge soon after.
I'm not having a go at you Lee but this is a common gripe and people need to bring their expectations down a bit to reality. Battery tech hasn't grown as fast as phones so it stands to reason that a 1ghz phone with a big, bold screen, true multitasking and things like live wallpaper will hurt battery life.
Disable live wallpaper, dim the screen, make sure gps and WiFi are off. Make sure you aren't running loads of background apps. Also consider disabling 3G if you don't use data a lot. Also try juice defender.

all the android phones have poor battery life.First thing you need to do is turn off data when you dont need it as this makes a huge difference

Re: HTC Desire HD
I'm getting a Desire HD tomorrow, my wife has the non-HD version and the battery life isn't great, but acceptable.
Punky's got it in one, the capacity v physical size v performance of batteries isn't at the same point as phone technology is.
On the plus side, with all these phones now having the standard micro USB connecter on them you should be able to charge them from a PC, and let's face it, I suspect the vast majority of us are either close to a PC throughout the day, or in a vehicle.

Re: HTC Desire HD
Yup - mine is plugged in to my laptop at work, when I am at my desk.

Not just android but pretty much any new smart phone with lots of features.
I have the normal desire and keep a charger at my desk when I am in work as I usually need to charge it during the day.

Re: HTC Desire HD
I hear that the processor inside the Android phones has been perfected a bit more for next year and will use less power but produce 4 times better performance. There's an article on the register here... http://www.reghardware.com/2010/11/1...ragon_msm8960/

Re: HTC Desire HD
I've read that enabling "USB debugging" on the Desire HD can improve battery life & "reduce lag".
Hang on...

Re: HTC Desire HD
OK - thanks for all the info so far - some good tips there - will try that enable development option.
What annoys me is this - this is the Orange specs on the phone - how they hell do they get that figure?

Re: HTC Desire HD
The standby time is probably about accurate, but the talk time is a bit silly. Probably a bit less than half that.

Re: HTC Desire HD
Well I'm going to have to wait till Tuesday evening for mine, went into the carphone warehouse to upgrade this morning and was told that a) they are proving incredibly popular, and b) they are in short supply.
