PC World and Technology laugh
i went with a friend of mine to PC World as he is looking for a new Monitor to do CAD and wants a 22" +.
This sales Guy comes up and asks if we need help and my mate just says hes browsing for something for CAD and could he recommend something.
This guy rambles on stating that he MUST! have a DVI Port because standard VGA wouldnt cope with CAD + if u buy a TFT monitor with standard VGA u have to auto set the picture everytime u reboot ur PC LOL!..
I confronted him infront of his manager and said ur basically talking rubbish mate i have been in IT years and out of all the TFT screens i have seen not one needs to be reset on EVERY boot what so ever and it didnt go down well at all and he claimed "it was his opinion" to which i stated no wonder those in IT think PC World is a joke.
As i said to a mate of mine he just wants to get more commission, i recommended an LG 22" with 50000:1 Contrast, 5ms response time which was down from £199 to £149 on sale and the guy said the picture would be crap on it and wouldnt handle cad and stated that he needed a samsung which was £247 and the only difference was it had DVI, 23" and a 2ms responce time.

There are some complete numpties working there.
I asked where the SATA internal hard drives were and I was told to follow the salesman and shown external DVDRW drives.

Re: PC World and Technology laugh
I found it amusing yesterday when my step father and I went to PC World to pick up a new printer and were advised to buy more cartridges so took their advise and made our way over the to wall with a selection of cartridges. After I had checked the number for the cartridges on the packaging. They had picked up the wrong ones all though they continued to repeat to themselves 364... 364... etc.

I would always check sites like inkcycle for ink before ever contemplating buying from a store like PC World, you may get a good price on the printer but their profit comes from the ink sales.

I thought you still did earn commission on the cover plans?

Re: PC World and Technology laugh
Tech Guys had my Packard Bell PC for 6 weeks for repair. They reckoned it was the processor and they waited and waited for a replacement for the 18 month old device. But "stores are in flux at the moment".
Got it back, took it to an independant repairer. New motherboard fitted in 2 hours (including a lunch break!). Repair cost less than what PCWorld wanted just for labour!

Re: PC World and Technology laugh
My parents bought a laptop some years ago from there.
When we asked the difference between the two computers at similar prices, he simply read out exactly what was on the cards in front of the two machines.
Furthermore once we said we didn't want the insurance/support package, or the anti-virus software on offer at the time, he virtually threw the box at us and couldn't wait to get us out of the store.

Re: PC World and Technology laugh
Last time I was in PC World I had the opposite experience. PC World sales people were like chickens. I went over to them and the scattered and ran.
I didn't think the deodrant I was wearing - Eau De Fox - was that bad...
