A great phone. In fact, I've just this minute rooted and flashed a friends San Fran too lol
|
I'm a bit scared of the custom ROM's and all that palaver but i did root it and delete some of the Orange bloat, it was a lot easier than i thought it was going to be!! I used Univeral Androot/Busybox/Titanium and it was simple for a noob like moi.
defirish if it helps you can change the keyboard layout to be like a normal phone like 1 (abc) 2 (def) ........etc...(yes i know that's not right) or you can have it as qwerty. Might make the touchscreen easier to adjust to.
You won't find a better phone for the money though than the San Fran IMO. If you've got an Orange sim that you used recently you'll get a discount too so even more bargainous.

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
You can unlock the phone by sending IMEI to someone (seller on ebay) and they will email you back with a code. Put Voda (or whatever) sim in phone, it asks for code, job done, about 99p.

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
Thanks Pia. There is a shop down the road from me and they unlock phones for about 2euro so I will be well sorted and they also sell new and second hand phones so if in the end I get hubby to buy it for me I can see if they have it second hand as they are very good and I trust them to tell me the truth about the mob phones.

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
You can still buy it from Orange for £99 + £10 topup, just tell them it's a gift for someone if they question the fact you can't get their network. And once you receive it you could just unlock it straight away. You can get £12 Quidco and also if you buy online go through the student page and enter 15 zeros when it asks for NUS numbe and it'll take 10% off (so HUKD tells me anyhoo)
