Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
There are different types of touch screen used in mobile devices. Capacitive and Resistive. Both react differently. Resistive screens work well with stylus ( I would say better) where as Capacitive with the fingers. Most of these mobile devices ( specially Android and IOS operating systems) allow the install of different keyboard types for the touch screen. I use the standard alpha numeric like a normal phone keyboard or skype which an awesome finger drag keyboard.
Like all things in life it will take a while to get used to them but I think touch screen devices are the best

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
You can install a different keyboard yeah but it'll still be touchscreen.
Honestly i HATED touchscreens i said i'd never get one but you soon get used to it.
And i still type the wrong letters in with my fat fingers but it has a predictive word thing that changes it which helps me massively.

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
a software one not a physical one. But it reacts the same as a physical one in some cases better. Some android phones however come with touchscreen and a physical full qwerty keyboard that slides out sideways so its the best of both worlds
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4...%7Ccat:Mobile+ for example some are cheaper

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
Couldn't cope with that price range or the keyboard. I thought that on screen I could put up keyboard on it. I'm asking to much. I'm half thinking of getting it but which half is swinging to get it I dont know I will have to find someone that has a touch screen and see how I would get on with it. The phone Pia showed on the link looks really lovely

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
Pia, I've got a San Francisco too and I rooted it and flashed it with a Modoco custom ROM about 28 hours after I got it! And it's got my Orange pay monthly SIM in too.
A great phone. In fact, I've just this minute rooted and flashed a friends San Fran too lol

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
I'm being dim here but you know the link you gave me well and the keyboard drops down I thought that just on the screen itself you had an option to change to the one like you have on an ordinary phone. Not you me

Which link? because the phone Pia has got has the keyboard on the screen, there isn't a slide out hardware keyboard like on that Sony phone that was linked too.

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
Im being fussy here as the one I want is a touch phone, no drop out keyboard and a menu that I can have a choice of either using the touch screen or one like the ones before the touch screen came out. Im not asking for much really am I?

haha sounds like you shouldn't be buying a touch screen phone as i think you will hate it as it is very different to a normal phone!
Go to a phone shop and try a touch screen out hun

Re: Thinking of getting an Android phone
I have good patience and I would stay working on something until I got the hang of it but for some reason the touch screen seems to be scaring me away without even giving it a try
