Dead easy, just make sure you follow these 2 rules.
1, You dont try to flash a simlocked phone
2, Use the 512.PIT file and NOT the 513.PIT

If you cant find details etc I'll be back on tomorrow & post links & details on how to.

Aren't phones normally only simlocked with a radio update?

Dunno bud, all I know is from what people have been saying on various forums that some are & some not. Best to err on the side of caution & check first tho eh!

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

well i went for the galaxy - but not being able to have a play with it sort of confirmed my mind. it arrived yesterday morning, o2 can be a pain, i asked for the tracking number to be mailed to me as my account was being ported to business thus not able to check order and never got it - good job i was in the office to catch it really.

anyway, love the phone. very responsive - well almost a generational leap over the zest. still playing with the setting to get it as i would like it. and with it being my first forray into android i've no doubt it'll take me a little while yet to get really used to it. what apps are people d/ling and using and reccomendations? - i think we could do with a sticky for android apps

only got a couple so far, with one being a freebie called ATK-advanced task killer, basically task manager for andriod. and 3G watchdog - for watching internet usage

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

Ive got one coming Friday. Hopefully this will float my boat better than the Desire did .

Ive got it on a 18 month contract with o2 but I aint gonna use the contract.

The contract works out cheaper than a sim free phone and as its through Dialaphone it should arrive sim free . Free phone £20 a month contract dropable to £15 after 9 months and I get £35 cash back though topcashback so all in all it will cost £280. If I do not like it then its instant profit on ebay as these are selling for in excess of £400 sim free

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

Rooted the phone last night using the update.zip method. Allows use of root only apps like Titanium backup, autokiller, adblock etc (as you know)

Using autokiller set to optimum I went from 58mb free to 140mb free & the phone feels quicker than the just the JG5 flash.

Seems Samsung has put up an Alpha of Froyo JM1. Very buggy according to reports, but its all good it means Froyo is not to far away.

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

I saw it on here http://www.techlivez.com/2010/07/how...sung-galaxy-s/

Downloaded it and like you am sat waiting for the phone to turn up, making a good list of things to stick on it though, like the JG5.

Theoretically yes but people have sent rooted bricks back and had them replaced.

No stock rom and I haven't seen one floating about, not that I have looked hard. I'm not expecting any warranty claim lol (famous last words) got the root from XDA and already seeing the benefits of rooting with very much extended battery life thanks to autokiller.
Pleasantly surprised with google satnav as well.

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

I have now applied the SD card fix and as my version of paragon partition manager can only format to ext3 not the faster ext4 I have gone from a quadrant score of 850 to 1127, no where near the 1600+ that a lot of other users get. At the moment a 30% increase in overall speed is more than acceptable. (goes looking for software to format ext4)

Now sorted, re-applied SD fix with ext4 and my quadrant score is 1724 with apps running in the background, this is on a class2 16gb micro SD.

re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)

nice one. Is that using the XDA guides also?

you root it,partition the card, download odin and ext patch, run odin plug phone into pc copy patch to PDA section in oden, run busy box and type loads of bobbins lol

Did you do the market place fix also ? does it work? does it download apps to memory card?

---------- Post added 30-07-2010 at 00:00 ---------- Previous post was 29-07-2010 at 23:55 ----------

another point did you notice much lag in general use beforehand?
