Re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)
JPC, now installed, can you add this to the end of your post.

8. Finally once it has upgraded after it has rebooted you may get a black screen and it vibrates a few times.. this is normal and when this happens hold Volume up + Home + Power button to boot in recovery mode, then Wipe data/ Factory reset.
9. Then when booted you should have some Lovely froyo on your Samsung galaxy s

taken from http://android.modaco.com/index.php?...post&p=1389786
Also I removed my SD card & SIM from the phone while doing this process.
Another edit***
Clean install with quadrant is 982, so as a base its quicker already, FROYO looks more refined, snappier

Anyone who has the SGS with a none UK firmware wanting to use keys for offical firmwares will be told that there device can not be upgraded. This is how you get around that ( info incomplete on xda so I had to suss it out myself)
connect phone and run kies make sure its connected
on pc run regedit then navigate to this key HKey_current_user\Software\Samsun\Kies\DeviceDB\12
there will be a list mine is 1 to 9 there could be more. You need to look to find which folder relates to your device.
First thing I would do is right click on the key and select export and save it somewhere
open DEVCONINFO and delete the information and close
open HIDSWVER delete the information and close
open Product Code and make sure the info is GT-I9000HKDXEU
open Softwarerevision and make sure it says I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3
exit regedit
Back in key which should be open all the time through this
Open firmware upgrade, press ctrl alt u p this will go into test mode. You then should be offered the new firmware. This is only a beta still in thoery when Froyo is released you will not need test mode
edit added for completion

Once Kies is closed next time you connect you will need to modify the registry again
I personally am still going to wait for proper Froya release
Usual disclaimer with registry mess at your own risk

How to root FROYO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769308
Works, just done it
Another Edit***
I have gone back to JM2, after rooting I lost wifi (just sat there "obtaining IP") Some stuff missing from market & Samsung apps. But it looked good for a first unofficial, official release over KIES.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)
Hubby has gone off to look onto this phone as his contract has expired. He was considering an iPhone 3 (the 4 is just too costly) until I pointed him in this direction. So we shall see.

Somewhere in the region of 7 times and for me the forced froyo through kies ia still a bit buggy, JF3, JG5, JM2, JP3, JM2, JPC, JM2 (I think thats my route so far).

Re: Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)
Just installed Asphalt 5 from Samsung Apps and it's pretty good.
The last game I played on a phone was Snake2
