re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100

I used the guide here > http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/show...on-SD-card-fix

But I guess they are pretty much all the same.

First I flashed to JG5 (its one of the better firmwares)
Then rooted using the update.zip method
Then followed the tut on samsunggalaxysforums
Added the market fix which does work dont know where the apps DL to soz.

I am using a class2 16gb card and from what I have read when it comes to this fix there isnt much difference between all 3 classes.

The phone was a bit laggy after a few days out of the box, JG5 sorts out much of that & I was quite happy with just JG5 but I wanted faster lol so faster it is.

I didnt return the settings properly between doing ext3 & ext4 so I am going to re-flash & start from scratch but making sure I do the SD card fix before I install all my apps etc.

I got the phone. My first impressions are very nice it arrived sim free which is good. Problem is the HD2 is a hard act to follow and so far I prefer that to the Galaxy. I will give it a few days then if nothing changes I will sell it

re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100

Got mine as well, bit of slow start but I am getting there, rooted it o0o errr.

Installing apps and setting up tinterweb etc, downloaded an app called quick settings this makes it so easy to turn off wireless, bluetooth, contract internet etc.

Hanging on sticking the JG5 firmware till imma sorted.

I aint gonna root it or mod it till I decide whether to sell it or not. Mind you I tend to be one of those types that cant leave stuff like that for long lol

not really thought about yet dude. Will be a small portion cheaper than a sim free deal on the tinernet though

Had Froyo on my HD2 and it was sweet as a nut. Default Touchwiz on the Samsung I was not overly keen on. Ive installed Launcherpro and its a much nicer interface imo.If you like Sense you can make it look at act like Sense( I like sense but without the flip clock so I just aint added it lol)

Quake 2 really shows how powerful this phone is compared to the HTC Desire and also brings back memories as i loved that game online!

XW mate, AFAIK thats the only JG5 availiable

http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/samsungi9000.htm

I had some probs yesterday with my SGS, but I found a workaround for it

Now running JM2 with the SD card fix, its not as fast as the JG5 + SD (1576/1724 respectivly) but still 90% faster than the stock phone.
Looking forward to froyo, although the leaked releases will be slowing down as one of the russians who has been leaking them got caught.

On the app kill side of things I use Advanced Task Killer free mainly because this easily sets up exceptions.
