re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100
I would consider myself to be a medium amount downloader, I dont stream via 3g but I do everything else over it & struggle to get through 300mb a month with my SGS2 or the original SGS.

Den, try GiffGaff. Truly unlimited internet & texts and 250 minutes for a tenner. Plus its a 1 month contract thing so you can pack it in if its not for you.

re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100
Just dropped a new root kernal with OC facility on the SGS2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1263838
Works fine on stock & AOSP ROM's
Quadrant (with a picnch of salt) 4600+ & linpack single core @ 59.229
Worth a punt use SetCPU (and others) to open up the SGS to warp speed!

Do you never worry that the people who produce these ROMs are tracking your data? I don't install certain apps due to their need-to-know-everything permissions never mind let my phone be run by bob's uncle.

No not really. I think (& it has been discussed on XDA) that if a developer was inject some sort or malicious code into a ROM or Kernel then this would be found very quickly (withing days if not hours) by others who would then post\message the relevant people on XDA & steps would be taken.
I also tend to go for tried & tested ROM's & Kernels, some of which have 10's of thousands of users & I read feeback on the ROM or Kernal I want to use.
Also most companies have some of their tech guys trawl through sites like XDA, download the software & in some cases back engineer & then integrate that code into new releases of their OS's.
To date I have had 0 (zero) issues with any patch, ROM or kernel where I thought there may be something amis. Thats not to say people dont try, but like most things in life if you dont try anything you'll never find out what your missing!

Install Tasker. It's a paid for app but you can set it up to turn on wi-fi when you get home, turn it off when you leave (by time or cell mast proximity) and so many other things. It's brilliant! (Just like milk...)
For something a bit more complicated, install a kernel that's optimised to save battery power.

re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100
alright guys,
interesting one this. the time on my sgs has gone haywire. the last known accurate time was when the missus rang us this morning just before 12. sometime shortly after that it decided to reset the clock which is now 11hrs out of kilter.
i have done a soft reset, and a factory reset (for which i need to re-install stuff now) but the issue still persists...................gonna be a pain as it doubles as my alarm clock.
anyone any ideas as whats causing this and a possible remedy as it's become a pita already.

Could it be set for the wrong time zone?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Galaxy S2 i9100
Galaxy S2 to get official ICS on March 1st http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gala...-news-3752.php
As yet I havnt installed any ICS ROMs on the S2. Latest version I have had on was Darky's 2.3.6 but decided to go back to stock Orange 2.3.5 with a custom kernel as I need/require Orange's signal boost at home due to poor coverage.
Looking forward to ICS and the benefits it will bring.

There is an app that will allow your phone to sync to an atomic clock cant think of its name right now but it does work and is free.
Requires root http://www.appbrain.com/app/clocksync/ru.org.amip.ClockSync
