Scientists have discovered the primary mechanism by which thalidomide causes malformed limbs in developing embryos.

Good to know the whys and wherefores, just a shame it took 50 years.
Based on the conclusion (in this laypersons view) it could well be the cellular effect it has on embryonic development is exactly why it works for treating cancer.
in which case my old dear lied to me then. Does not surprise me as she is one for trying to big herself up and make her look like she did something good. ( as you can tell I am a tad bitter )
