Re: LCD / TFT Wall Bracket

Given that most stud walls have 12" gaps between the studs it should be easy enough to find a stud in the region you want to fit the TV, use 2" minimum #10 or 12 supascrews into the stud and the plasterboard fixings in the other set of holes. At 19" the mounting points are usually the same as a PC monitor and maplin sometimes have cheap but decent mounts available.

Re: LCD / TFT Wall Bracket

Update: Not started this project yet - but I've just got the detector out and found the vertical metal strips about 12" apart as you said, Lord Nikon.

Found one in the rough place where I want to locate the TV - that's handy!

I've checked for live wires - there sone in the vacinity feeding the double power socket and the aerial RF coax lead, so now it's a just a case of finding the exact location where I can get the mount plate installed and a drywall box where I'm going to feed the cables from to make it all neat.

I'm still unsure what fixings to use at the moment - I want to make sure I get the mount held to the other side of the stud / noggin...I still think the spring toggles would do the job.

Ideas??

Re: LCD / TFT Wall Bracket

Have you bought a bracket yet as I have just received one from the place below, they post via courier and you get an email every step of the way which gives a 1 hour timeslot for the actual delivery and a final email stating that its been delivered and all this included in the price.

i'm assuming you are using a steel drill bit ?

have to say it's unusual for metal studs to be used in domestic properties they are more suited for commercial premises and do drill very easy

Re: LCD / TFT Wall Bracket

You will need a very small sharp drill to start it off 1/8" should do it

Yep - steel dril bits....I've given up now. I think it might have to go on the other wall (outside facing - nice brick) on a mounting arm...
