Re: Digital cameras
Here is one for you to consider
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169537
I have a Casio 'Bridge' Camera (EX-FH20) and was so impressed got the other half a EX-Z2
Very easy to use especially with the "Best Shot" feature

Re: Digital cameras
Just my 2p: If I was buying today, I'd be looking for one with an 'old-fashioned' viewfinder. I bought a Panny Lumix 12mb (DMC FX-550) about a year ago (~£200 IIRC). It got very good reviews, but I find the LCD screen is absolutely rubbish for shooting panoramas. It's fine for shooting snapshots of your mates in a well-lit room, but once your outside (especially when the sun is out), and you want to take a picture of an object that doesn't fill the screen, it's pot luck, as you really can't see what you're taking a picture of.

Re: Digital cameras
Check out the readers' forums section of the DP Review site too - they have specific forums for all of the big names and you can find some really good feedback and tips there.
Ps I have a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 and it's been excellent. I've used it in many places where I'd never have taken a larger camera so not only does it take good pictures, it takes pictures I otherwise wouldn't have got!

And it can be used with the CHDK firmware add-on.

Re: Digital cameras
just bought myself a new camera a panasonic lumix FZ38 although it's not pocket sized i have to say i'm very impressed with the picture quality, the reason i went for this was a friend of mine bought a lumix compact camera (not sure which one) but i was very impressed by that too.
anyway i wouldn't hesitate to recommend the lumix range

Re: Digital cameras
I went for the Panasonic Lumix TZ7 and 16GB class 6 SDHC memory card in the end because of the great reviews and all i really wanted was a point and click with great zoom and 720P video mode.

Have the FZ28 & found it so easy to use and you have the option of a digital viewfinder for the times when the screen is no use.

Re: Digital cameras
We have http://www.trustedreviews.com/digita...ix-DMC-FZ28/p1
and even though I am more of a point and shoot type of person I still get decent shots now and then (link in sig), Must admit the Lumix is pretty straight forward as a camera and they tend to do a decent optical zoom option.

looking at the pics linked in your sig I think you are being modest, they are more than just 'decent'
