Re: LED TVs

I have the 46" Samsung series 8 LCD and the picture is great. We only had 1 problem with it. We tried to use our old freeview box (I was being cheap and behind the times) with it and the picture was just ok, so we got the digital box (which I hate. Try to search for a program on that and you wait all day) and it's better than my brother inlaws high price plasma

Re: LED TVs

I see a lot of recommendations for the Panasonic Plasma TVs. I have to say - this is just my experience - I can't see what the big fuss is about having seen some demo'd in a shop the other day. Directly comparing them next to other LCDs they didn't look in anyway better. Some of the new backlit LED tvs looked strictly average to me.

Now I probably am slightly biast as I have an LCD 46" at home which I am very happy with, but I have spent a while setting it up, so I can completely understand how this could be how they are setup in the shop with the contrast, sharpening and backlight all ramped up to make it look very bright, since this seems to percieved as a "good" screen to some customers. However, I'm not ready to chuck my LCD in the bin anytime soon as for me it's absolutely fine potentially for years to come even with the 3D stuff in the pipeline.

you might find that the fuss is usually about the pioneer plasma TVs, which are far superior in image quality. Panasonic are generally regarded as top on quality for LCD screens.

Slightly off topic but to answer your post. Freeview HD was launched in December 2009 in my region ... Granada. Not too much choice as yet but the channels available include BBC HD, ITV 1 HD and 4HD.

Any one wanting to check to see if it is available to them can check here ... "http://www.freeview.co.uk/"

According to Freeview themselves the boxes were only available from this month. http://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview/S...s/Freeview-HD2. But I cannot see any news of when the channels will be launched.

When I looked in January the Sony Scrappage scheme had been stopped in December.
