http://calibre-ebook.com seems to be the best option.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

It arrived this morning.. Already got 30+ books on it (some from some pdf/epub I already had on the laptop) and about 10 from the free range on Amazon..

Noticed in this thread that there was Sudoku available but the link doesn't work any more.. Any new links for it?

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

Just a bit of a pointer to people - if you are wanting to get a kindle that does text to speech (for whatever reason) don't get the new one as it's completely absent.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

Talking about text to speech Dilli, did you know that the latest firmware 3.3 has a shortcut for turning on/off the menu speech? (shift and spacebar) which was a feature I know that you were interested in.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

Mine is probably out of date - I use shift+sym to start/stop text to speech.

And alt+spacebar to start/stop mp3 playback.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

I was talking about the menus to speech rather than text to speech.. All the kindles should have updated since the October release of the firmware

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

Can I just butt in and ask if anyone has this Aluminum cover for their Kindle 3. I like the look of it and, as it seems to have a click-in way of holding the Kindle rather than the intrusive cage/elastic of most other covers, I am considering buying one.

I have the Amazon case with the built in light but it is a tad heavy in my hand bag.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

I'd worry about the way the cover hinges on that one especially as if you're hand holding it the cover will hang down and free..

Morning Kymmy. That's one of the reasons I was hoping someone on here had one. I can't make up my mind whether the hinge would allow the front cover to fold right back against the front section.

ADD.....
Just had another Google and found an American thread on their Kindle Boards about this very case and it appears you can fold it back out of the way so I'm going to go for one.

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread

On the pics it looks like it uses the case as a stand, if you can fold it back then that would make all the difference to it being a good case or not.. You'll have to let everyone know what it's like when you get it...

Well Natalie took the back off my dodgy kindle and I'm just waiting for the replacement to show up then back into action.
