Just to round up this week on Gizmodo - this guy sent two $45 digital cameras to the edge of space with a balloon, duct tape and styrofoam while Apple made a phone that you can't use if you hold it in your left hand?

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Just picked up a cracking little lens for my A200, a Minolta 35-70 F4 AF macro. To say its in near mint condition for a 25yr old bit of glass would be an understatement. Knocked off a few to make sure it works and quite impressed with the results so far. Will pop out in the morning for a better play.

Nice shots I always like dusk shots.
See attached for my effort taken in Hawaii earlier this year. The effect is a little stronger than yours (I prefer yours) but it was a first attempt

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
As I am going to be using my camera a lot outside I finally bought a UV filter to protect my lens.
It seems great so far.
I got the Hoya - Pro1 UV Filter.

I only use a UV filter if I'm going into a dusty/sandy place otherwise I trust to the lens hood for protection. The Hoya Pro1 UV Filter is hopefully (given the price) a superior piece of glass, but I'd still rather not put anything in front of the lens unless I have to.

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
I see what you are saying Delta. It's just currently with going out and having to often quickly get my gear together I find the protection is worth it.
I couldnt really afford another lens at the moment.

Even professional photographers are split over using a UV filter. I see arguments both for and against, it's almost 50%-50% I think. At the end of the day, just do whatever is comfortable for yourself.

That's just what I was about to say! I was talking to a chap in Jessops (a very helpful / knowledgeable chap - not like the normal staff!) and said that it probably wasn't worthing putting a UV on the lens unless it was used a LOT outside and it was an expensive piece of optics.
I'm in two minds if I sould get a UV for my Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Zoom Lens. It's a cheaper end of the Canon optics - if it was a USM Ultrasonic then I probably would.
