Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Canon 20D
Sigma 135-400mm @ 400mm
1/60s @ f10
ISO 100
Hand held, but rested in the crook formed by the car door when open
Then heavy PP in Lightroom2

Wow, hand held, I'm even more impressed with the image now.

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Well it was a cheating hand held, the lens was well and truely jammed in the crook of the door

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Just got back from Mam Tor, didnt get any shots from there of the moon but got some from a lay-by on the way back. Had a good day & took the best part of 200 shots, once I have gone throught them I'll stick some on my photobucket.
Excellent shot jabtas, I took a few handheld tonight of the moon but gave up and got the tripod out of the car as I was shakin like stevens.

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Anybody ever tried any star trails, I used to do quite a bit with 35mm
But they just dont work with digi, the sensor gets hot and introduces too much noise
the best way with digi is to stack the shots, but Ive never given it a go

It's another aspect of photography I'd like to try, but living in town the light pollution is so bad that anything longer than 60 seconds has a dull glow added to it.

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Anything longer than 60secs with digital is a non starter anyway
Try it and see
Might have to dig out my old Canon EOS 50e 35mm

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
One way round this is to put the camera on a tripod and take several short exposures. Then combine them later, pixel-by-pixel, in post processing to average out the noise. There is a good tutorial about this somewhere. I think it's on Luminous Landscapes but I can't find it at the moment. Anyway, there are lots of other relevant tutorials here:

Re: CF: Clickers Corner
Hubby took a picture of Orion last night and whist fiddling in PSE increased the light levels & thousands of stars appeared, almost drowning out Orion's stars.

That's a good idea, I'll try that tonight (weather permitting of course).
