It was. That's why they changed it.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
Overpriced. But, as long as people are buying it - they will charge it.

£494 for a Nokia n95 which is almost a $1000.

Free on most operaters in the UK.
As I here it will come to the UK in Sept and be sold through Carphone warehouse on Vodaphone and T-mobile only and will probably be cheaper as we get our phones subsidised.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
Apparently:-
1) Cannot send text message to more than one person.
2) Cannot search for a contact to call by type in name. The scroll down and alphabet on the right side of the page is much slower than just typing in contact name with the name appearing after you type three letters.
3) E-mail: All e-mails appear in phone inbox even if they are SPAM, Junk on the computer.
4) The camera can not record video. Only still pics. This should be able to record & send video clips recorded from phone.
5) The Speakerphone / earpiece is VERY DISAPPOINTING. Needs to go several levels louder, especially when using external speakerphone. Should be able to place on armrest in car (with windows up) and have conversation. Not even close. Have to hold phone right next to ear, which defeats purpose of external speakerphone.
6) The keyboard is mince.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
It wasn't a review i took it from, it was from a letter sent into the Inquirer by a user (Hence the Apparently part), although i added the Keyboard is mince bit after reading this on several iPhone reviews.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
Ta.
The worst I've read about the keyboard on several reviews I've come across is that it takes a week or more to get used to the technique ... before that you're liable to hit the wrong letter rather a lot. I'm not sure that merits the use of 'mince' to describe it, which would imply that it's totally hopeless (I certainly haven't got the impression that it's irredeemably bad).
I have a 1st gen iPod so I know from bitter experience that there are liable to be many, very significant improvements in even the first revision to the iPhone. Now is definitely not the time to buy one. That said, I don't think the overall impression of the reviews I've read is as negative as the one contained in that Inquirer letter you've seen.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
I get the impression from the reviews so far that not many people actually use the iphone as, err, a phone. - Can't send mms messages?
- Can't send sms messages to more than one recipient?
- Can't tap the first letter of a contact to select & call them?
- Can't make a call without multiple screen presses?
Looks to me like it's a fairly good mobile web browser with an ipod attached, not a phone.

Re: Apple's iPhone Dissected:
From the reviews I have read, it seems like at the moment, Windows Mobile (which is aimed at a similar sector in the marker) knocks the iPhone's version of Mac OSX into a cocked hat in terms of usability. Not that I am saying WM5 is perfect. Far from it.
---------- Post added at 22:18 ---------- Previous post was at 21:44 ----------
Seems there may be another unusual design "feature" on the iPhone. Apple are selling it on it's music playback, but it only supports music syncing, it does not allow manual management. Although it is rumoured that Apple are considering adding this functionality to a future iPhone.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07...euters_iphone/
Now, while the iPhone is using some interesting design ideas, based up the the reviews I have read, it seems that Apple have released a cut down iPhone that they plan to improve according to what people say,
This is all well and good (and actually what Alpha, and to some extent, Beta testing are for), but if they are doing this, they are expecting people to pay over $2,000 to test for Apple.
I will say, however, that I haven't played with an iPhone, so am basing my opinions on what I have read.
